Here we are, a few weeks into 2025 and quite frankly, Into Creative are astonished, astounded, amazed and awestruck by the sheer quality of tunes being released. It’s insane! Anyway, read about the next batch of top songs here and remember to thank us later…………….
Artist: Blueboy
Single: Deux
Label: Precious Recordings of London
It took around twenty years for Blueboy to get back together and they sure are making up for lost time. Appropriately, their second comeback single is called Deux and it is blessed with shimmering guitars, soft verses, a rousing chorus and is dripping in French chic. It made my Into Creative Mix Tape of 2024 having been released towards the year end but it absolutely deserves your attention so give it a listen.
If you like The Cocteau Twins (and quite frankly, who doesn’t?), you’ll find their influence on this track but Blueboy make it their own with a noir-esque vibe that whispers harmony and melody in equal measure. This is a gorgeous track that flits in and out of the shadows, into the blinding light.

Artist: Edwyn Collins
Single: Knowledge
Label: AED Records
It’s been six years since Edwyn Collins last released an album (Badbea) so the recent news of a new long player in Nation Shall Speak Unto Nation (due 14th March) was both unexpected and exciting. Ahead of that, lead single Knowledge is out and even after a couple of listens, it just sounds and feels like a familiar song, effortlessly working its way into the singer-songwriter’s canon of work.
The guitar intro sounds peak Orange Juice before Collins comes in with evocative lyrics which seem to look back on his past but also positively looks to the future. “Knowledge is a friend of mine, still its hard to pin it down………hard to let my old self go“. You get a real sense of a life, the highs, lows, memories and of course the struggles following his cerebral haemorrhages and ongoing aphasia. The fact Collins came through that and is still capable of making such beautiful and touching music is testament to his determination, the support of his wife Grace Maxwell and the creative art he clearly loves and continues to cherish and make.
This record is a treasure (as is Edwyn).

Artist: Butler, Blake & Grant
Single: Bring An End
Label: 355 Recordings
It’s three years since I first saw the triumvirate that is Bernard Butler, Norman Blake and James Grant adorn the stage at St. Lukes in Glasgow, a night to celebrate songs from their own individual back catalogues with more than a share of funny anecdotes thrown in too. Now, in 2025 we have the first fruits of their labour as a three-piece band and what a song they’ve released in Bring An End.
It precedes their self-titled debut album Butler, Blake & Grant which hits the shops on March 28th. It’s not always that a super-group is indeed, super, but there are no fears here, the combined musical talents, songwriting and guitar playing skills are all on the show. There is a clear camaraderie, the tune clicks and to quote a Teenage Fanclub song, everything flows………….
