Into Creative: PREMIERE – How it All Went Down by Sunstack Jones

Artists: Sunstack Jones
Track: How It All Went Down
Label: Mai68 Records

Are you ready to party like it’s 1969? Sunstack Jones are.

Into Creative is overflowing with joy at presenting the Premiere of Sunstack Jones’ new single and video.

When respected musical barometers such as Mojo, Clash and Louder Than War start singing your praises (three part, natch…) one really needs to sit up and take notice.

Sunstack Jones have been perfecting their golden-baked recipe for the last four or so years, working out of that rich, north-western seam which has forever been Albion’s melodic epicentre. Conceived as a songwriting vehicle for members Chrisy, Lorcan and Richy, they released a pair of self-produced records for local label, Eighties Vinyl, which attracted the patronage of Mark Radcliffe at BBC Radio 2. A few years on, and augmented by a pair of new recruits, Dave and Jules, Sunstack Jones hit the trail again. By 2018, they’d released an EP and a third album, this time on Deltasonic Records and produced by longtime partner-in-crime Paul Den Heyer. Having the platter mastered by one of the most influential guitarists of the last few decades, the Verve’s Nick McCabe, showed that Sunstack Jones were definitely heading in the right direction.

Sadly, lockdown put the block down on the successes they’d started having at home and abroad but they’ve managed to use the break to record their latest offering, ‘Golden Repair’, this time with another Verve alumnus – bassist Simon Jones  – on controls. Scheduled for release in October, the band follow up April’s single, ‘Glass Boat’, with the excellent, ‘How It All Went Down’ tomorrow (11th September) on Mai 68 Records, accompanied by a rather splendid promo video.

Feast your eyes (and ears) on this…

Imagine Stillwater on the roof of the Apple building, dreaming of swapping the Council Estate for the Canyon and you’ll be halfway to ‘getting’ Sunstack Jones.
