Into Creative: Miraculous – The Rise And Fall Of The Miraculous Vespas

Film: Miraculous – The Rise And Fall Of The Miraculous Vespas
Author: David F.Ross
Director: Stuart Hepburn

Edit: You can now watch the complete film here.

During lockdown our cultural sector has been severely hit with no gigs, plays or films to attend but the ingenuity of Ayr Gaiety Theatre have found a novel way around that with their online programme, The Lockdown Season.

Coming up at 7pm on Thursday 30th and Friday 31st July is the screenplay adaption of acclaimed Scottish author David F.Ross’ book The Rise And Fall Of The Miraculous Vespas. The film has a stellar cast with Sarah McCardie as intrepid journalist, Norma Niven, Tam Dean Burn playing the band’s manager Max Mojo and Colin McCredie as Grant Delgado, the reluctant singer of the group.

Flying by the seat of their pants and with Mojo not quite the Alan Horne svengali of the time, nonetheless the band record a number one single but disappear just as quickly as they arrived, under rumours of kidnapping Boy George and a missing album that hasn’t seen the light of day, yet.

With the actors having to record their scenes from home, the phrase “lights, camera, action” took on a new meaning ensuring everything was consistent and aligned to produce a slick, fast paced, hilarious and at times flippant film.

Add in a cameo from Scottish DJ Billy Sloan, music from Bobby Bluebell and a live Q&A after each performance with cast and creative crew and this adds up to an event not to be missed.
